The solitary Temminck´s Stint (Calidris temminckii) was still at the same irrigation pond in Las Martelas (Los Llanos de Aridane) this morning, Sep 28.

The photographs taken today allow more details to be appreciated: the tail can be seen to extend a little beyond the folded wing tips, and the bill is slightly decurved.

The bird forages by picking along the mud at the water´s edge, and also in the shallow water itself. As stated in the Collin´s Bird Guide, "from a distance, it recalls a miniature Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) because of its shape, rather plain brownish upperparts, and well-marked breast"...although it clearly does not bob its tail like the Common Sandpiper.
